During Jan 30-31, 2018, MECC Maastricht hosted a two-day event focused on the latest technological innovations in medicine: 3D printing, robotics, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality. The event included two conferences – 3D Medical Printing Conference and Health Tech Event and an expo with innovative companies involved in the chain of Bio-, Medical-, Dental- and Medicine 3D printing. The conferences were not only academic, but innovative events bringing together brilliant minds and discoveries. The 3D Medical Conference is accredited by the Dutch Association for Technical Medicine (NVTG) for 6 points per day and therefore guaranteed high quality and professional (medical) visitors.
It was a unique event, with 35 speakers in total [13 speakers Day 1, 23 speakers Day 2] and a lively exhibition where the attendees could see real life solutions of the technologies discussed during the conferences, as well as many other innovative technologies. SoftBank Robotics Europe, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma, Materialise, Merck Life Science, ACTA, Mobilab, UK RWTH Aachen, Maastricht University, Tilburg University, TU/e, University of Pisa, KU Leuven, TNO, Vektis, Tosoh were only a few of the companies and institutions whose representatives spoke.
On Jan 30, the program included dedicated sessions on 3D Bioprinting and 3D Dental Printing. Attendees found out the current status of having human tissue printed on demand, custom-made 3D printed dental implants, biofabrication of 3D in vitro models & more.
On Jan 31, the focus during the 3D Medical Printing Conference shifted towards 3D medtech printing (orthopaedic implants, surgery models) and 3D pharma printing. The Health Tech Event showcased a live demo of exoskeletons, while tackling hot topics such as Augmented Reality in healthcare, drones in healthcare, social robots and surgical robots.
