Dr Chris Arts is working in the field of on biomaterials for use in bone defects, infection, joint arthroplasty and spinal deformation.Furthermore he is active on reserach concerning implant biotechnology in patient related clinical research. In 2008 Chris Arts was appointed lecturer and senior scientist at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of Maastricht University Medical Centre. As the head of the Orthopaedic Trialbureau he is responsible for the setup, execution and analysis of all clinical patient studies. He also holds a position as lecturer at Eindhoven University of Technology (Faculty of Biomedical Engineering). May 2010, Dr. Arts was awarded a prestigious BMM (Dutch BioMedical Material consortium) Young Investigator Call grant (1.9M euro). May 2012, Dr. Arts was awarded the Göran Bauer’s grant by the Nordic Orthopaedic Federation (NOF). Dr. Arts has co-authored about 30 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and several book chapters and he has several pending patent applications.
