3D printed drill guides are commonly used in dental implantology in a surgical environment. The process of fabricating those drill guides consists of the following general steps: 1) imaging, 2) processing, 3) printing. These processes are a source of problems. With funding awarded from the Strategic Innovation Grant, Lobat Tayebi, associate professor and director of research in the School of Dentistry, has been working to create a biodegradable bone implant.
