How to get 3-D-Data of human patients for planning and working with in the workflow of the digital dentistry

In the digital dentistry completes the direct use of patient data the full digital workflow. And even 3-D-printing objects will be better with these data. So will the sucessfull oral rehabilitation combining function and aesthetics.

The simple and fast data acquisition with the DMD-System® is shown and how the data of the models, a therapeutic position and the movements are directly transferred to the CAD of exocad.

A physiological positioning of the joints makes the entire further course of treatment faster, safer and more successful, and this from the single crown to larger prosthetic work and full mouth rehabilitations with and without implants. As many working steps as possible are digitized with the data of the DMD-System® because the switching between digital- and analog-workflow always involves data loss and sources of error.

For me dental medicine can not go forward without the originally patient movements for higher quality and better health.

3-D printing Materials will take an increasingly important role in manufacturing prosthetics.

What emerging technologies/trends do you see as having the greatest potential in the short and long run?
The printing of ceramics for dentures.

What kind of impact do you expect them to have?
I think we will have machine intelligence for the digital dentistry.

What are the barriers that might stand in the way?
For me the greatest barrier is to believe in the virtual articulator to imitate patient movement.
