From Lab to Life. How Digital Production of Medicines could finally reach the patient – Presented by Tobias Gantner, HealthCare Futurists, at the 3D Medical Conference 2018, which will take place on 30-31 January 2018 at MECC Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Digital Production of Medicines is already quite advanced. The bigger hurdle is to take the regulatory and reimbursement hurdle. In order to prove the added value that this novel technology might bring to patients and caregivers alike, certain requirements will have to be met. This accounts for the overall goals of digital production of medicines as well as to infrastructural necessities that have to be secured such as machinery both on the producer’s and dispenser’s side as well as on the consumer’s part. This talk will discuss how going to market strategies could look like in the light of technological advancements and price deteriorations. We will be looking at changing business models and challenging new approaches such as value-based healthcare in the age of 3D printing of medications. Continue reading “From Lab to Life. With the IoT, subjects that belong together finally come closer together. The medically interested public and a growing number of patients have gotten used to wearables and ubiquitous computing. Physicians, sick funds and governmental bodies are slowly adapting data usage generated from microelectronics.

The medical innovation reformation also brings the maker-scene to prostheses engineering, employing 3D printing technology. 3D printing of medicines has shown first successes and yet is still a far cry from putting pharmacy’s business models in jeopardy.
