In-house manufactured PEEK cranioplasty implants – initial experience from Skåne University Hospital

Point of care produced implants hold great promise to improve patient care. Skåne University Hospital has recently implanted the first 3D printed implants that have been designed and manufactured on site. As far as we know this is the first time in the world where the entire process from scanning, design, manufacture, and post-processing are performed solely at the point-of-care and by the hospital.

Deformities and defects in cranio-maxillofacial surgery very often demand for a patient specific solution. Custom made maxillo-facial implants and prosthesis can be manufactured by 3D printing and are tailored to the patient. The use of custom surgical guides and implants in cranio-maxillofacial surgery is widespread and can be regarded as state of the art treatment. Clinical applications will be highlighted.

AM implants by Camber Spine Technologies receive FDA clearance

Camber Spine Technologies announced that it has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its SPIRA™ Open Matrix ALIF device, a interbody fusion implant consisting of spiral support arches and Surface by Design™ technology.
