Current methods of manufacturing custom ankle foot orthotics can be a time and labor intensive process. This project aims to create a solution for difficulties experienced within the current AFO creation process, while leaving the customisation within the experienced hands of orthopaedic technicians. To achieve this, Mecuris along with its various partners, are developing a process which combines the versatility of 3D scanning and – printing with the superior material properties of carbon fiber – a combined process which aims to provide orthotic technicians with superior products and less effort involved in manufacturing.
