3D printing is becoming an increasingly important part of personalized medicine workflows through the delivery of tailored medical devices, for visualization of anatomy, as custom surgical tools or for patient-specific implants. An increasing number of hospitals are internalizing 3D printing as a service to complement clinical and research programs. With a proper alignment of clinical goals and applications with appropriate technology choices and processes, sustainable growth of a hospital-driven 3D printing program can be achieved. This talk will discuss some of the opportunities and challenges that are crucial in allowing clinicians and patients to maximally benefit from the meaningful applications that 3D printing can enable.
