A 3D printing technique known as bioplotting is being examined by researchers as a potential treatment for type 1 diabetes. This approach is being developed so islet cells, which are cell groups comprised of insulin-producing beta cells, can be transplanted into patients with type 1 diabetes while being fully protected. New Hope for Knees: 3D Printing and Proteins
Researchers have found a way to regenerate torn or damaged knee menisci using 3D printing and implanted recombinant human proteins. Continue reading “New Hope for Knees: 3D Printing and Proteins”
BWH is Making Progress With Bioprinting Blood Vessels
A three-dimensional bioprinting technique is being used to make artificial vessels from scratch. A team from Brigham Women’s Hospital (BWH) has made progress in fabricating blood vessels. The researchers used a 3D bioprinter to make afiber template to serve as the mould for the blood vessels. Continue reading “BWH is Making Progress With Bioprinting Blood Vessels”
