Designing compartmental pharmaceutical products based on 3D printing Presented by Jukka Rantanen, Department of Pharmacy, University of Copenhagen at The 3D Medicine & Pharmaceutical Printing Conference which will take place on  Feb 01, 2017 at MECC Maastricht in The Netherlands.

Additive manufacturing will provide pharmaceutical business area with tremendous possibilities: products based on manufacturing solutions such as tableting can be replaced by personalized medicinal products designed with tailor-made and controllable inner structures. These systems can be manufactured using innovative and flexible processing solutions such as 3D printing. This development is setting pressure for expanding the selection of generally-accepted materials for pharmaceutical product design, related analytical sciences, as well as the whole pharmaceutical quality system. Examples of innovative product structures together with analytical solutions for ensuring the quality of these systems will be introduced.

About Jukka Rantanen
Jukka Rantanen is professor of pharmaceutical technology and engineering at the Department of Pharmacy (University of Copenhagen). He completed postdoctoral visit at the Department of Industrial and Physical Pharmacy (Purdue University, USA) in 2003, and joined the faculty in Copenhagen 2006. Jukka is a member of the Process Analytical Technology Working Party of the European Pharmacopoeia Commission.
