Tobias D. Gantner, MD, MBA, LL. M., HealthCare Futurists GmbH, will Speak at the 3D Medicines Printing Conference on “Imprintables: A new class of products empowering patients, physicians and consumers alike.”
With the IoT, subjects that belong together finally come closer together. The medically interested public and a growing number of patients have gotten used to wearables and ubiquitous computing. Physicians, sick funds and governmental bodies are slowly adapting data usage generated from microelectronics.
The medical innovation reformation also brings the maker-scene to prostheses engineering, employing 3D printing technology. 3D printing of medicines has shown first successes and yet is still a far cry from putting pharmacy’s business models in jeopardy.
At the HealthCare Futurists are trying to bring all three of these together and initiate a new product class called ‘imprintables’. These 3D on demand custom printed medicines dispensers come with wearable electronics to gather and dispense data on physical conditions and can be implanted at the client’s convenience. Think of Parkinson’s disease, cardiac defibrillators or contraceptive use to start with.
In this presentation Dr. Gantner will touch base on the status quo of patient empowerment and democratization of health-care. He will point the way from the beginnings of data driven health-care and predictive medicine to end up with a use case and the implications of future business models that electronic engineers, medtech producers and pharmaceutical companies need to look at in the future.
